CHICAGO (WCMH)–Defensive end Joey Bosa went three to San Diego and Ezekiel Elliot was next off the board to Dallas at No. 4. Cornerback Eli Apple was taken No. 10 by the New York Giants. Detroit added offensive tackle Taylor Decker at No. 16 and the New York Jets selected linebacker Darron Lee at No. 20.
“Seeing the smiles on their faces makes me feel so much better,” Bosa said of the picks of his fellow Buckeyes. “That’s why we came to Ohio State – to play at the next level.”
A lot of OSU students had their eyes glued to the screen today, excited to follow their favorite Buckeyes onto the NFL.
We talked with current Buckeye OSU Junior QB Justin Cook, who says he’s proud and excited for his teammates. He says this year’s draft show just how great of a program OSU has.
“A lot of these guys who I know really well are about to live out their childhood dreams. One of them was to be a Buckeye and the other one is to be able to go play professionally,” says Cook. “Just seeing all my friends knowing how hard we work in the off-season…sometimes you have to sit and wait your turn and how much you have to sacrifice and to see them go and do it is so cool.”
OSU freshman student Josh Monczewski says it’s great to see so many Buckeyes move onto the NFL.
“That’s going to be exciting to see what they can do, to take their NCAA talents to the NFL,” says Monczewski. “It’s like I’ve been following them for a while and to see them keep going up, it’s exciting to watch that.”
