VIDEO: Italian Coast Guard rescues kitten

MARSALA, Italy (WFLA) – Italian Coast Guard patrolling the waters searching for refugees in distress responded to a call of a feline in trouble.

A group of children waved them in telling them about a tiny kitten that had fallen into the harbor.

The officers went into the water and pulled the kitten up on the boat. The animal looked lifeless, so one of the officers performed CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to try and save the cat. The rescue was caught on video.

After less than a minute the kitten could be heard meowing, and one of the officers was heard on video saying, “She breathes! She breathes!”

The kitten was treated by a veterinarian and is in good health. Port Authority adopted it and named is Charlie.
