TULSA, OK (WCMH) — An 84-year-old woman was pepper sprayed by police while arresting her son in Oklahoma last week, and it was all caught on video.

According to KOKI, Muskogee police were searching for a suspect who ran a stop sign and refused to stop for police. The suspect then ran into his mother’s home, and refused to come out.

When police went into the home, they found the man but they were confronted by his mother.

“Turn around and face that way or I’ll spray you,” an officer can be heard on the video.

Police Chief Rex Eskridge says the department is working to resolve the situation.

“This is a very important issue. There is a lot of misinformation out there. There is a lot of prejudgment going on; there’s a lot of concern,” Eskridge told KOKI.

Eskridge released the video because of the community’s concern and to for the department to be more transparent.  “Videos can’t give you the full sense of what happened, but at the same time they do either validate or expose any warts that you might have.”

The woman in the video says she was taken to jail after the incident, where she had a panic attack. She now plans to take legal action against the department.
