CROSBY, TX (WCMH) — A Texas school district has released video showing a bus crash that injured several students.

Investigators say 52 middle and high school students were on the bus when the driver became distracted causing the bus slipped into a ditch and onto its side, September 23.

The Crosby Independent School District superintendent said that the veteran bus driver was filling in on a different route and was looking into the rearview mirror asking students for information about the next stop, which caused her to not see the truck that was stopped until it was too late.

The driver pulled the bus to the right, causing it to flip into a ditch. Several students were trapped on the bus and others had to be carried off on a gurney.

None of the injuries were life threatening, but the superintendent said the district will be using the incident as a teaching experience for all its bus drivers.
