Video shows stranded cows after New Zealand earthquake

NEW ZEALAND (NBC News) — Video shows three cows stranded on an island of grass in a paddock that had been ripped apart by a powerful earthquake that hit New Zealand on Monday.

Aerial footage shows the cows surrounded by huge landslides.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake triggered landslides and a small tsunami, as well as cracking roads and homes. Two people were also killed in the quake.

Strong aftershocks continued to hit the region, rattling the nerves of residents who had little sleep after fleeing for higher grounds to avoid tsunami waves.
