WEST CHESTER TWP., OH (WCMH)– An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, a passing nurse, and EMS personnel saved the lives of two men who had overdosed on heroin on the side of a highway in Butler County.

The Patrol said on Facebook that troopers were dispatched to the area on Aug. 29 after callers reported a vehicle swerving through lanes.

The responding troopers found the vehicle stopped on the side of I-75 in Butler County. Two men were inside the vehicle. The doors were locked and both men were unresponsive, so one trooper broke a window so he could get into the vehicle and pull the men out.

The OSP says it was “quickly determined” that both men had overdosed on heroin.

A nurse driving on I-75 at the time pulled over to help. EMS and partner law enforcement agencies arrived on scene shortly after, the Patrol said.

Both men were revived with Narcan and transported to a hospital in West Chester.

The driver was later charged with OVI.
