WORTHINGTON, OH (WCMH) – A candle light vigil for 16-year-old Franklin Eric Clark was held Tuesday night.
Hundreds of friends, classmates, and teachers were in attendance.
The vigil was moved indoors because of the threat of rain, and Eric’s teammates escorted his family inside.
Young men on both football and basketball teams grew emotional, shared stories, and promised to approach life differently moving forward.
Commitments were made to work harder than they ever had before. To dedicate to next years season’s in both football and basketball to Clark’s memory.
Afterword people gathered at the spirit rocks and left mementos, lit candles, or simply cried.
Clark had been swimming in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Carolina this weekend when it is believed he was caught in an undertow and unable to make it back to shore.
His body was pulled from the ocean Monday afternoon.
Clark was in South Carolina for a basketball camp with his coaches and teammates from Thomas Worthington High School.
His teammates were put on a charter bus and returned to Columbus Monday night, his coach remained in South Carolina with Clark’s family.
