COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Dozens of family and friends gathered at S. Weyant Ave. and E. Main St. in a prayer vigil for 14-year-old Armani Anderson.
They came together at the spot where he was shot in a deadly, drive-by shooting.
“It’s just a child…wrong place at the wrong time,” says Armani’s great aunt Bernardetta Jones.
She says her great nephew was a loving kid, who always liked to crack jokes and make people smile.
“I just want to say to the person that took him, you took beautiful thing off of this earth and you need to turn yourself in and do what you need to do because that was my baby,” says Armani’s mother Jennifer Roberts.
Police say about 50 people saw what happened, but no one has come forward with information.
So, now the community is praying for justice and hoping for answers.
“We need to stop the killing,” says Jones.
She says they never thought this would happen to their family.
“It’s time for the community to come out here together because next it could be someone else’s family,” says Jones.
A 21-year-old man was also shot in that shooting… He was in stable condition.
This is the 31st Homicide case Columbus Police are investigating so far this year.
