COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Vice President Mike Pence addressed the Ohio Republican Party’s annual dinner in Columbus.

Pence was the featured speaker Saturday at the annual fundraising event being held at Ohio State University. He landed around 2:45pm.

Republicans from around the state were ready to hear the Vice President’s speech.

“I think he’s going to talk about the administration agenda in D.C and how it’s going to impact people here in Ohio,” said State Representative Niraj Antani.

Columbiana County Republican Chairman David Johnson added, “I think he’s going to talk healthcare reform. he’s going to talk about tax reform. he’s going to talk about a lot of the regulations that’s been rolled back to try to get the economy going again.”

Pence delivered on those points. He hit home what he is calling early success for the Trump administration.

“President Trump has signed more than 40 bills and more than 40 executive orders on everything from healthcare, to energy, infrastructure and more,” said Vice President Pence.

The healthcare bill still looks and debate keeps stalling it in Congress.

Pence said he and the President will continue to fight for this bill.

“Until this Congress puts on his desk a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.”

Senator Rob Portman echoed that very thing just moments before Pence took the stage.

“Let’s roll up our sleeves. Let’s do the hard thing. Let’s replace this with something that is better for Ohio. I strongly believe we can get there.”

The dinner was held to raise money for the 2018 campaign season.
