EAST LANSING, MI (WCMH) – Golden State Warriors’ star Draymond Green has been arrested in Michigan for assault.
Green was arrested in East Lansing near the downtown business district around 2:30am. He is facing assault and battery charges under the city code, according to Lt. Scott Wriggelsworth with the East Lansing Police Department.
ESPN reported that Green was involved in an altercation with another man at Conrad’s Grill in East Lansing restaurant. The male victim was not injured in the incident, Wriggelsworth told WOOD-TV.
Green was released from jail after posting a $200 bond. He has 10 days to turn himself in and be arraigned on the charges.
He could face up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine if convicted.
Team officials issued a statement Monday to KRON-TV to say they are in the process of gathering details about the incident.
“We are aware of news involving Draymond Green in Michigan over the weekend. At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation.”
Green, a 4-year veteran, is coming off a stellar season averaging 14 points per game and helping his team to a league best 73 wins during the regular season.
The All Star power forward was embroiled in post season controversy for his physical play which led to a critical NBA Finals Game 5 suspension following an altercation with Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James. The Warriors lost Game 5 without Green and the team lost the series after leading the Cavs 3-1.
Green, who played for Michigan State, was recently named to the United States basketball team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. What others are clicking on:
