GARDENA, CA (WCMH) — A video showing a US Navy crew honoring a World War II Veteran by singing “Anchors Aweigh” has gone viral.
Ernest Thompson, 98, is a veteran who fought in WWII and lives near the Fleet Anti-Submarines Warfare Training Center in Gardena, California.MOBILE USERS CLICK HERE TO WATCH
In a Facebook post from Thompson’s grandson, Jonathan Williams, dozens of US Navy officers marched to Thompson’s house where they stopped to show their appreciation by singing Anchors Aweigh, the march song of the US Navy.
Thompson returned the favor by saluting his visitors while they sang.
After the song, the officers came up to Thompson to shake his hand.
The video has gone viral with more than 4.5 million views.
