LEE COUNTY, FL (WBBH) — A Florida postal worker was caught on camera dumping hundreds of pieces of mail into a dumpster Saturday.

The woman can be seen in the surveillance video driving her truck right up to the dumpster before dumping an entire bin of mail into it.

Among the dumped mail were postcards, payments, bills, personal letters, and about 400 business fliers belonging to a local realtor.

“I called down to my wife. I said check the garbage can, I just saw something really bizarre,” said Louie Rondao, the owner of Luigina’s Pizza who caught the incident on camera. “Sure enough, she confirmed there was mail here from people and a lot of postcards… Somebody’s missing checks and payments. There were bills, and I think there were some personal letters.”

The inspector general’s office is working to identify the mail carrier.

The postal service says it already contacted the intended recipients of that mail. The letters will be processed and then placed back into the regional mail system.
