NEW YORK, NY (NBC NEWS/WCMH) – With the final presidential debate on Wednesday, Saturday Night Live once again took aim at both Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton Saturday night.
Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton dodged questions about a private email server while Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump defended his comments on women. Tom Hanks, hosting the show for the ninth time, played moderator Chris Wallace.
This year’s contentious election cycle has sparked a big ratings comeback for the sketch comedy show, now in its 42nd season. While SNL is usually popular in election years, this season’s ratings have soared higher than they have been in the last eight years.
Not everyone is loving the election themed skits, though. After last week’s episode, Trump himself took aim at the show and Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of him.

Trump hosted an episode of SNL in November 2015, even as protesters voiced their opposition outside 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Clinton also hosted an episode in October 2015.
