WATCH: Women brawl over parking spot at Houston’s zoo

HOUSTON, TX (WCMH) — Several women started assaulting each other in the parking lot of the Houston Zoo Tuesday, and it was all caught on cell phone video.

The video, captured by Linda Padilla and later posted to Facebook, shows several women pulling each other’s hair, grabbing each other in chokeholds and slapping each other in the face.

Padilla told KTRK-TV that the fight happened during the zoo’s “Free Tuesday” event where anyone can get inside the popular park for free. As a result, parking spots were limited.outside of the zoo were extremely limited.

Padilla says the fight began when one woman tried to hold an empty parking spot, preventing another driver from taking the spot.

“The lady tried to pull in and that’s when the lady walked up and hit her car. Then the lady jumps out of her car and they started going at it,” Padilla told KTRK-TV.

During the fight, the video shows another woman then run into the empty parking spot with a stroller, still trying to save the spot for someone else.

People who saw the video couldn’t believe it.

“That’s just ridiculous. You don’t do that. What are you showing your kids?” Gina Lopez told NBC affiliate KPRC-TV.

“It’s ridiculous. We want to bring our children to the Houston Zoo and we have people fighting over parking spots,” Anthony Lopez added.

The zoo later issued the following statement:

While the parking lot outside the Houston Zoo front entrance is not owned or managed by the zoo, we were disappointed to see the behavior displayed by the adults in the video. The safety and security of our guests is our priority and we work diligently with our staff and HPD to ensure visitors to the Houston Zoo are safe.

Houston police told KPRC-TV they received the disturbance call around 3:45pm, but the women seen in the video were gone by the time officers arrived. What others are clicking on:
