WESTERVILLE, OH (WCMH) — Westerville’s bearded presidential candidate is campaigning for an endorsement from Ellen DeGeneres and an appearance on The Ellen Show.
American History teacher Ben Hartnell started his bid for the presidency as a lesson for his students at Westerville North, but he has now been verified as a write-in candidate by the Ohio Secretary of State.
“Ellen represents everything that’s great about this country,” says Hartnell. “If elected, I will bring the same amount of passion, enthusiasm – and dancing – to the White House that Ellen brings to her show!”
Hartnell wants his campaign supporters to email The Ellen Show and help make it happen. Sunday he tweeted a campaign photo with a smiling DeGeneres photoshopped in the foreground.
