CLEARWATER, Fla. (WCMH)–A Florida woman says she can’t even recognize her face in the mirror.

“It’s torture living like this, torture,” Julie Reid told WFTS in Tampa Bay.

Reid suffers from Cholinergic Urticaria, a rare hypersensitive skin condition. The 28-year-old woman breaks out in hives all over her body because she is allergic to her own sweat and tears.

Reid told WFTS that the condition came on suddenly two years ago. The hives can last anywhere from an hour to several days.

She used to make a living as a gymnastics and dance instructor, but can no longer follow her passion. Being outside isn’t possible, either, as the Florida heat and sunshine are just not good for her.

Now, she says she has not left the house during the day in three years. She has gained over 100 pounds and says she is afraid to leave her home. She cannot work and was denied disability.

Reid reached out to WFTS in the hopes that someone will see her story and help her.

She has documented her journey with a personal website–click here to view it .

“I have not worked in three years because it is physically impossible for me,” she wrote on her website. “I wake up covered in hives everyday, even though I have the air conditioner on. I have layed (sic) in bed for the last three years straight to avoid sweating, and it breaks my heart every single day. I miss my old life so much. One without itching and without pain. I even dream about it. But when I wake up, only then does it turn into a nightmare.”

Reid also set up a GoFundMe page.
