COLUMBUS (WCMH)–A woman plead guilty Thursday to a count of involuntary manslaughter after her 14-month-old daughter died from a narcotics overdose.
Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said Erica Marie Barley, 32, took her daughter to a drug house on Columbian Avenue last May. While in the house, the toddler became unresponsive and was transported to Children’s Hospital.
It was later determined that the baby had lethal doses of heroin and fentanyl in her system, which caused her death.
“It is unacceptable when we see a tragic and avoidable death of an innocent toddler from a heroin and fentanyl overdose,” O’Brien said.
Barley faces a potential sentence of eleven years in prison, O’Brien said. Her sentencing is set for July 28, 2016.What others are clicking on:
