LEICESTER, NC (WCMH) – A North Carolina woman tried to teach her husband a lesson about wasting money with lottery tickets. It backfired in the best way possible.
Glenda Blackwell’s husband, Buddy, asked her to buy two Powerball tickets for a drawing over the weekend.
Instead, she bought a ten-dollar scratch-off ticket , intending to scratch it off in front of him to show him it didn’t win.
“I was going to be ugly and buy a scratch off to show him they didn’t hit,” Blackwell told WLOS. “Sometimes I get aggravated with him, so I tell him, ‘You’re just wasting your money.'”
Her plan backfired.
She scratched the ticket off to reveal a $1 million winner.
“I had to eat my words, but they were worth eating,” Blackwell told WLOS.
Blackwell says she will use the money, $415,503 after taxes to buy a house and set up a college fund for her grandchildren.
