Registration deadline approaching for Ohio primary election

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The deadline to register to vote in next month’s presidential primary election is one week away.

The deadline for Ohioans to register to vote for March’s primary election is Feb. 20, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Residents can register online or by mailing a registration form to their county board of elections. County boards of elections will be open until 9 p.m. on Feb. 20.

The March 19 primary will determine party representation in November’s presidential and U.S. Senate elections as well as other local offices determined by voting precinct. For example, Franklin County residents will see, depending on party registration, competitive races for Ohio State Representative in the 5th District and county prosecuting attorney.
