COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Hockey is in the air here in central Ohio, as the Columbus Blue Jackets continue their push to the Stanley Cup Final.
Fans of all ages will watch the team closely especially a group of young kids learning the game.
“Our oldest son got into it a couple of years ago and he loved it and we actually just got a quarter season package to the Blue Jackets,” said a Columbus parent Nick Bertangna. “I’ve taken these guys to every game and ever since then he loves it.”
There’s nothing but love for the Blue Jackets here at the Chiller Ice Rink.
Three kids ages range from four to five learn the basics of the game from how to skate, fall, and get back up.
They’re pretty good at it already.
So what is therr favorite part about hockey?
“Flipping it and then scoring,” said Alex Mayeski.
Spencer Oldham said, “Playing the game.”
The team who scores the most points wins the game. So it seems these kids are on the right track.
The parents say Blue Jackets fever fuels these kids.
“With the Blue Jackets in the playoffs it’s really exciting just to get out there every week on the ice,” said Bertangna.
With the Blue Jackets set to hit the ice for the second round of the NHL playoffs, Spencer predicts a Blue Jackets win.
“I think it’s going to be 7 to 5,” said Spencer.
All three kids say they will be up late rooting on the Blue Jackets along with the rest of Columbus.
