Buckeye swimming and diving make history against Michigan

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Ohio State University’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams scored historic wins over Michigan on Saturday, scoring duel meet wins over the Wolverines for the third straight year.

Saturday’s win marks the first time the Buckeye women have beaten Michigan three times in a row, while for the men, it’s the first time since the early 1950s.


The women beat the Wolverines 184-116, while the men scored a 163-137 victory.

The women’s relay team of Nyah Funderburke, Hannah Bach, Katherine Zenick, and Teresa Ivan won the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:37.97, with the other OSU team of Tristan Harrison, Josephine Panitz, Catherine Russo, and Amy Fulmer coming in with a time of 1:38.20 for second place.

In the men’s 1000 freestyle, the Buckeyes won the top three spots, with Charlie Clark (9:00.94), Sam Campbell (9:10.55) and Mason Edmund (9:12.78) dominating the race.

The Buckeyes move on to face Notre Dame on Jan. 26-27 in the Tim Welsh Classic.
