COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) —  Ohio State men’s lacrosse will play for the Big Ten tournament title for only the third time in program history.

The Buckeyes, ranked fifth in the country, beat No. 17 Rutgers 11-7 at UM Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Thursday. Ohio State will play Maryland Saturday for the title.

Ohio State midfielder Greg Langermeier is playing a big role in the team’s success. Langermeier is a fifth-year senior and now captain of the team. He has grown through his college career to become a selfless leader.

“To come back for a fifth year and not just come back but to really nail it, you know what I mean. And I think Greg’s really done that. There’s a lot of credit. He’s certainly a big reason why we’re in this position,” head coach Nick Myers said.

It has been a special run, the Buckeyes are the one-seed in the Big Ten Tournament thanks in part to an 11-game win streak earlier in the season. As it turns out, Maryland was the team that snapped that run and now the Bucks will get another crack at the Terps with a championship on the line. Saturday’s game will start at 8 p.m.
