COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Two former Ohio State tennis players will be among the 64 men’s doubles teams competing in this year’s French Open on the clay courts in Paris.

The 2024 NCAA men’s doubles championship duo of JJ Tracy and Robert Cash will take the court Wednesday at Roland Garros. They will face the pair of Rohan Bopanna (India) and Adam Pavlasek (Czechia) in the first round. This will be Cash and Tracy’s first appearance in the French Open, both individually and as doubles partners.

During their senior season at Ohio State, Tracy and Cash went 20-3 as a doubles team before capturing the 2024 NCAA title. In August, they won their first round match in their grand slam debut at the U.S. Open, beating Alexander Shevchenko (Kazakhstan) and Sam Weissborn (Austria) in straight sets. The ex-Buckeyes lost in the second round in three sets to Argentinian duo Maximo Gonzalez and Andrés Molteni.

Tracy and Cash will look to be the first duo of American men to win the French Open doubles title since Bob and Mike Bryan in 2013. Fellow American tennis player, Austin Krajicek, was the last American man to win the French Open doubles tournament when he won with his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig two years ago.

The Buckeyes alums could face the No. 2 seed pair of Harri Heliövaara (Finland) and Henry Patten (Great Britain) in the third round. The French Open men’s doubles final will take place on June 7.
