COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A postgame brawl between Ohio State and Michigan players brought responses from multiple police agencies at Ohio Stadium, and on Tuesday, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office released body-worn camera video from three of its deputies on scene.

The fight broke out Nov. 30 after the Wolverines won 13-10 to end the Buckeyes’ chances of making the Big Ten championship game and of earning a bye in the College Football Playoff. Michigan defender Derrick Moore carried the team flag to midfield, where it was planted by two teammates, sparking an immediate brawl.

Officers used pepper spray to end the melee. One person who left the stands to come onto the field was charged with trespassing. The following day, the Big Ten fined the schools $100,000 each but declined to suspend any players.

“The field was full of civilians from our perspective: photojournalists, reporters, staff of civilians that work for both athletic programs,” Chief Deputy Jim Gilbert said. “Once we noticed that they were in peril, it was imminent that somebody could be trampled on, somebody could be seriously injured or hurt because of this equipment. it was important for us to get over there and try to at least break up and restore some kind of order.”

The sheriff’s office released three videos from deputies, without naming any of them, and NBC4 is presenting them without any additional redactions. Because foul language can be heard, viewer discretion is advised.

In the first video, a supervisor assisted an Ohio State police officer on the ground.

In the second video, a deputy attempted to stop players from fighting and was knocked to the ground.

In the third video, a deputy assisted fallen officers and shot pepper spray into the air.

The win was Michigan’s fourth straight in the series. The Wolverines (7-5) next play No. 11 Alabama (9-3) on Dec. 31 in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida.

Ohio State (10-2) qualified for the playoff as the No. 8 seed and will play No. 9 Tennessee (10-2) at 8 p.m. Dec. 21 at Ohio Stadium in the first round.
