COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Ohio State’s national championship football team will visit the White House to celebrate the victory, coach Ryan Day said Monday at a news conference.

While speaking to the media, Day said it was an honor to be invited to participate in the tradition of championship teams visiting the White House.

“I remember growing up and watching the national championship teams go to the White House, and I always looked at that like ‘Man, what an honor that would be,'” Day said. “It’s part of the celebration of our team.”

The team will visit the White House on April 14.

“Looking forward to getting all that planned out,” he said.

Ohio State defeated Notre Dame 34-23 to win the championship in the first 12-team playoff. It was the team’s first national title since 2014.

The Buckeyes’ spring showcase is set for April 12 at Ohio Stadium.
