COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Buckeye fans hoping to watch the football team for the first time since they won a national championship now know when they can get tickets.
The Buckeyes announced that tickets for its “Spring Showcase” on April 12 will go on sale on Friday. The weekend for this open practice matches when spring game took place last year with this showcase likely being in-place of the traditional spring game.
Ohio State’s spring practices will start on March 17 with 15 days of practice over a four-week span. The spring football season will start less than two months after the Buckeyes claimed their ninth national championship over Notre Dame 34-23 in Atlanta on Jan. 20. Ohio State’s title game win concluded the first 12-team playoff where the Buckeyes also beat Tennessee in Columbus, Oregon at the Rose Bowl, and Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
Head coach Ryan Day will have a shuffled staff for the 2025 season after offensive coordinator Chip Kelly departed for the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles took the same role at Penn State.
Brian Hartline and Keenan Bailey were promoted to co-offensive coordinators while former Super Bowl champion defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is set to replace Knowles while Tim Walton is also set to be promoted to co-defensive coordinator.
The Buckeyes begin their national title defense on Aug. 30 when they host Texas at Ohio Stadium in a rematch of last season’s Cotton Bowl. Among the stars from last season returning include receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Caleb Downs.
