COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) –Back from their second bye week, Ohio State returns to the field and looks to get back to winning ways after a one-point loss to Oregon.

The Buckeyes, ranked fourth in the country, are back at home on Saturday against Nebraska, with kickoff set for noon.

“Do I need to overhaul everything? No. We don’t need to overhaul everything. But there are some things — the way we’re coaching some things, the way we’re scheming some things — that we need to make adjustments there. There’s no question,” head coach Ryan Day said in his first comments since the Oct. 12 loss to the Ducks. “Once all that settles, you realize there’s a lot of football ahead of us.”

On the injury front, Day confirmed that offensive lineman Josh Simmons will be out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury against Oregon. Zen Michalski will start at left tackle for Saturday’s game against Nebraska.

“[Simmons] had made a lot of progress and was playing very, very well. Big loss but got an opportunity for another guy to step up,” Day said. “I thought [Zen] did a nice job in the Oregon game.”

The head coach also confirmed that running back Quinshon Judkins did have a procedure done on his hand last week and that he feels better than he did going into the Oregon contest.

OSU is coming off its first loss, 32-31 to the Ducks in Eugene, Oregon. Quarterback Will Howard threw for 326 yards on 28 completions, including two touchdowns, while running for another. But the transfer couldn’t overcome a late penalty on the final drive of the game, sliding to the ground as time expired.

“I’ve played it in my head a million different times on what I could’ve done,” Howard said. “I’m trying to get as many yards as I can. I looked up and saw two seconds left and I got down. I thought I had enough time. Do I look up a little early? Do I get down quicker? Believe me, it’s been nagging at me. I’m kicking myself in every way.”

Howard says if the Buckeyes are ever in that situation again, they’re going to handle it differently.

“We wanted to flush that game but we’re not going to forget about it. And it’s going to be in the back of our head,” Howard said. “I’m almost glad it happened now and not at the end of the season.”

The Cornhuskers (5-2) are coming off a 56-7 loss to No. 13 Indiana. It’s the first time in three years that Nebraska is facing ranked opponents in back-to-back weeks. Ohio State has won the last seven meetings with the Cornhuskers and is 9-1 overall in the series.
