DAYTON, Ohio (WCMH) — For the first time in seven years, Pickerington Central is at the top of the Buckeye State after the Tigers defeated Cincinnati Princeton 47-44 in the OHSAA Division I championship.

Pick Central was down by as many as seven points in the final quarter before back-to-back three point jumpers by Zoe Coleman helped the Tigers take the lead with 2:06 to go in regulation.

Down by three, the Vikings had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but Erin Thomas’ shot from long range hit the rim. Pick Central was able to move the ball and avoid getting fouled to seal the victory.

Gabby Plair led the Tigers with 13 points and four rebounds while Blossom Wallace added 10 points and six boards in the victory.

The win maintains Pick Central’s status as a powerhouse program in Ohio. The Tigers were making their third straight trip to the OHSAA final four and 16th overall. Pickerington Central has now won eight state titles.
