COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – For the second time in six years Columbus will play host to the SheBelieves Cup, featuring the U.S. Women’s National Team and three other top-ranked teams from around the world.
U.S. Soccer announced Friday that Lower.com Field will host the championship and third-place matches for the ninth annual SheBelieves Cup, on Tuesday, April 9. It is the second time the USWNT will compete at Lower.com Field and the second time the Cup has been held in Columbus.
First the United States, ranked second in the world and defending SheBelieves Cup champions, will square off against last year’s runner-up Japan, currently ranked eighth, in a semifinal match on April 6 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. That match kicks off at 12:30 p.m., followed by the second semifinal, Canada (10) versus Brazil (11), at 3:30 p.m.
Lower.com Field will then host the final four pairings on April 9, with Japan playing either Canada or Brazil at 4 p.m. and the USWNT competing against the remaining team at 7 p.m. Team USA will play at 7 p.m. regardless of whether it’s the third-place or championship match.
The matches of the 2024 SheBelieves Cup will be the first of six domestic games the U.S. Women will play following the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup and leading into the 2024 Olympics in France.
Tickets for both matches in Columbus can be purchased on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. via presale offers, and then again on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. to the public. Tickets purchased for that day will include both the semifinal and final matches.
Columbus last hosted the SheBelieves Cup in 2018 when the USWNT, Brazil, England and France played at MAPFRE Stadium.
