AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Championship Sunday at The Masters. It’s big for the players, and it’s big for the patrons as well.

If you’re a sports fan then being at the final game or round of any major sporting event is a huge deal. And one man from Texas has made it his mission to be at a lot of them, but the biggest mission of all was being at The Masters on Sunday, and this year he made it happen.

“Welcome to The Masters!”

It’s the welcome that Ryan Humphries of Texas has been waiting to hear.

“I can remember watching Tiger, Phil and all those guys when I was 6, 7, 8, 9 years old,” said Ryan Humphries.

And Sunday, it finally happened.

“This is just truly a bucket list deal,” said Humphries.

Humphries is no stranger to final rounds or final games.

“From a very young age, I’ve been fortunate. I’ve been able to do a lot of really neat sports things. Huge sports guy. I love all sports. I’ve gotten to do a lot of neat things with my dad,” said Humphries.

From Stanley Cup and NBA Finals to the World Series, Rose Bowl, and PGA Championship. He’s even been to some big stadiums like Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

But Sunday at The Masters?

“Obviously not to take away from any other day, it’s very special if you get to come to The Masters and I know that’s a big deal for a lot of people. But I don’t think that it’s any secret that being at a practice round versus a Sunday,” said Humphries.

Sunday at The Masters is the peak for Humphries, but that doesn’t mean he’s done with this sports championship travels.

“This was definitely towards the top, so I guess back to the drawing board after this. But I don’t know that anything will beat this,” said Humphries.

Humphries was also at the FCS National Championship in 2020. And yeah, he was in attendance but as a player for Sam Houston State University. They won that year 23 to 21 against South Dakota State.
