COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Crew came out victorious in dramatic fashion when two of the top teams in Major League Soccer competed in a knockout game in the Leagues Cup.

The Crew beat Inter Miami in the Round of 16 by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday night. They now advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face New York City FC at Lower.com Field.

For nearly an hour of game time, the Crew played at a one goal deficit. Matias Rojas scored for Miami in the 10th minute, before a barrage of goals in the last half hour.

Diego Gomez scored a goal to extend Miami’s lead to 2-0 in the 62nd minute. But that lead was quickly wiped out by the Crew.

Christian Ramirez finally put the Crew on the board with a goal in the 67th minute. Then, Diego Rossi put one in the goal to level the score at 2-2. And Rossi wasn’t done yet.

In the 80th minute, Rossi scored again to put the Crew in front 3-2. They managed to hold on for the remainder of the game to emerge victorious.

The Leagues Cup will crown the best club team in North America. The soccer competition, which started five years ago, features teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico.
