COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Crew earned its third straight win Wednesday night as they took down Nashville SC 2-0 at Lower.com Field with a “boomtastic” backdrop.

The Black & Gold were scheduled to play NSC at 6:30 p.m., an hour earlier than the originally scheduled kick-off time to accommodate for Red, White & BOOM! The weather had other plans as heavy rain and storms rolled into Downtown Columbus and caused the game to be delayed for over two hours.

The match kicked off at 8:45 p.m. and the Crew once again took a lead after a Christian Ramirez header in the 30th minute, marking his fourth goal of the MLS campaign. The fireworks then began and offered a loud backdrop during a majority of the second half, leading to a poetic moment.

Diego Rossi put in the Crew’s second in the 65th minute coupled with the fireworks and seconds after scoring, the traditional club song “Wise Men” played for the fireworks show to celebrate the 2023 MLS Cup title.

Columbus has now won seven of its last eight matches in MLS play and have scored 11 goals and conceded one in its last three games. They sit in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with at least two games in hand on the other teams at the top of the table.

The Crew remain at home this weekend as they welcome eighth-place Toronto FC on Saturday night in another chapter of the Trillium Cup. Toronto has lost five consecutive matches.
