FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WCMH) — Five different players scored for the Crew as Columbus won by four goals for the second straight week, defeating the New England Revolution, 5-1, on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.

The win marks the Crew’s third victory in four games and snapped New England’s four-match win streak, handing the Revolution its most lopsided MLS loss of the season.

After Emmanuel Boateng scored the opening goal of the match in the ninth minute for New England, Cucho Hernandez, coming off a hat trick against Kansas City, scored the equalizer seven minutes later with a strike off his right foot at the end of a fastbreak.

The game stayed tied until the 42nd minute, when Max Arfsten found the back of the net from the top of the box. Columbus took a 3-1 lead into the locker room when Diego Rossi scored in stoppage time by redirecting a cross from Cucho.

Columbus extended the lead in the second half with goals from Rudy Camacho (72nd minute) and Steven Moreira (80th minute).

This was the Crew’s first meeting against New England head coach Caleb Porter, who was at the helm in Columbus for four seasons from 2019-2022, including the Crew’s MLS Cup winning season in 2020.

Columbus returns to Lower.com Field for a midweek showdown on July 3 against Nashville. The match is set to kick-off at 6:30 p.m. and conclude just in time for Red, White & BOOM!
