CLEVELAND (WCMH) — Cleveland Browns fans will have to wait a little while longer before seeing its star running back return to the field.

Multiple reports said that Nick Chubb will remain sidelined and miss the first four games of the new season. Chubb suffered a serious left knee injury last year during a Week 2 Monday night game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, ending his season early.

To start 2024, he will remain on the Browns’ Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list which makes unable to play in the first four games. Cleveland starts its season on Sept. 8 at home against the Dallas Cowboys before playing at the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, hosting the New York Giants in Week 3, and playing at the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4.

Chubb could be available for the Browns’ fifth game against the Washington Commanders on Oct. 6. The Browns are looking to make the NFL Playoffs for a second consecutive season. Cleveland lost in the Wild Card round last year to the Houston Texans 45-14.

The 2024 NFL season begins on Sept. 5 when the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the Baltimore Ravens. The opening game can be seen exclusively on NBC4 starting at 8:25 p.m.
