CLEVELAND (WCMH) — Despite announcing his desire to be traded away from the Cleveland Browns, superstar defensive end Myles Garrett is reportedly signing an extension to stay in Cleveland for record-breaking money.

Multiple reports on Sunday said that Garrett is set to sign a $40 million per year extension through 2030 with the Browns that includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money. With those numbers, that would make Garrett the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history, surpassing Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, who signed his three-year, $106.5 million extension on Wednesday.

On Feb. 3, Garrett said he wanted to be traded while the Browns front office made it clear they did not want to grant that request. Instead, the two sides reportedly came to a truce to keep the 2023 NFL defensive player of the year in northeast Ohio.

Since being the No. 1 overall pick by Cleveland in the 2017 NFL Draft, Garrett is on pace to be one of the best pass rushers in NFL history. In his first eight seasons, the Texas A&M alum has played in 117 games and has already recorded 102.5 sacks, becoming the first player to hit the 100 sacks mark before turning 29.

Garrett has played in three postseason games in which Cleveland has a 1-2 record. After making the playoffs in 2023, the Browns finished the 2024 season 3-14 and own the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
