ROAD TO RIO: Olympic divers explain why they need an official hot tub

Olympic athletes can be described as a lot of things: strong, dedicated and passionate, to name a few. When it comes to the official hot tub, pampered is also thrown around.

Abby Johnston is heading to Rio. “People always ask why we stand in the shower or we go in the hot tub. And it’s because it’s so cold in there,” Johnston explained.

The divers are looking to stay loose for their next rounds.

Kristian Ipsen is on his second Olympic team. “Just shocks the body and warms me up. And then I feel much looser for when I get onto the board,” he said.

Amy Cozad joked about the hot tub. “The hot tub is comforting. We don’t need it,” she said sarcastically.

The Opening Ceremony for the Rio Olympic Games can be seen August 5 on NBC4 WCMH-TV. Stay with nbc4i.com to watch these divers and our other U.S. athletes.
