COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Multiple agencies want to find a robbery suspect before he strikes again.

The Ohio Adult Parole Authority is looking for Richard Bland, 35, for a parole violation. Investigators said Bland robbed a store and scared two people who were just trying to do their jobs.

On Aug. 20 around 9:45 p.m., a robbery happened at the Family Dollar store on Harrisburg Pike. According to the criminal complaint, a masked man with a silver and black handgun selected several items from the business and put them into a shopping cart.

Detectives said they found nine fingerprints at the scene, which led them to identify Bland as the suspect.

According to police, Bland pushed the shopping cart to the counter and pointed his gun at two salesclerks. Those workers said Bland demanded money from the cash registers and drop boxes, and when he got the money, he ran from the store.

Bland is now wanted for aggravated robbery.

“Yeah, anytime someone chooses to use a firearm or any type of weapon in the commission of a crime that poses a threat, if he’s in in, in the middle of robbing this store at gunpoint, somebody walks into that store, it just takes a few seconds and things can go bad really quickly,” U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio Michael Black said.

Black said although he didn’t fire his weapon, Bland’s actions caused great fear for the workers on shift the night of the robbery.

“Violent fugitives, you know, they start with it, could start by using a firearm in the commission of a crime, so that’s, that’s why we get involved,” Black said. “Our goal is to rid our communities of these violent fugitives, and this is one that we would like to get off the streets before he has an opportunity to commit a more violent crime.”
