U.S. Marshals search for unregistered sex offender

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The search is on for an unregistered sex offender who was convicted of attempted promoting prostitution.

Investigators believe Yulian Fu could be anywhere between Columbus and Cleveland, partly because her last known address is in Franklin County.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Fu has failed to register with the sheriff’s office for nearly two years, and the service is hoping for a break in the case like the one his team received when tracking a homeless man.

Investigators had no leads and no information until a recent Warrant Watch helped them find that suspect, who they said went into a man’s home, attacked him, and slammed him into a wooden table. The victim spent a week in the hospital with a collapsed lung.

Ryan Burlison was arrested last week when a tip from an NBC 4 viewer led investigators to his location.

“We ran the story, somebody sees the story, they give us a starting point,” U.S. Marshal Michael Black with the Southern District of Ohio said. “They give us a tip, a location where they spotted this individual, that gives us a starting point which led us to be able to apprehend him and get him off the streets.”

And now Black hopes that will happen with this week’s Warrant Watch suspect, Yulian Fu.

His teams are working a case originally out of Cuyahoga County, but has central Ohio connections.

Fu is a registered sex offender who was known to live in Franklin County. The 55-year-old is now charged with failure to verify address, something she hasn’t done since March 2022.

Court documents show Fu was convicted of attempted promoting prostitution.

“Could be, possibly, a human trafficking situation,” Black said. “Promoting prostitution could go a variety of different ways. Both those charges could lead us to want to get her off the streets as quickly as possible.”

Fu’s last known address was on the 1200 block of Lincoln Road in the Grandview Heights area.
