Central Ohio Weather and Radar

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UNTIL MIDNIGHT
FLOOD WATCH UNTIL 1 A.M. SOUTHEAST OHIO

A winter weather advisory has been extended until 12 a.m. tonight central Ohio, and continues through this evening or later for the entire state. Two to 4 inches of snow will accumulate in total, including additional snow showers through this evening, heaviest along and northwest of I-71.

Intensifying low pressure moved across the upper Ohio Valley into northern Pennsylvania, ushering in sharply colder air, which turned rain rapidly to snow after daybreak accompanied by strong northwest winds.

The snow tapered off around midday, as the storm moved away from the region. Temperatures will hover in the upper 20s, making travel difficult, coupled with gusty winds up to 30 mph from the northwest.

Flood warnings continue for a number of southeastern counties. More than 2 inches of rain fell across the southeast part of Ohio, resulting in flooding on some roads, as creeks and streams rise. A flood watch remains in effect through midnight in east-central and southeast Ohio.

A blast of arctic air will arrive overnight, with morning temperatures falling into the 10s and wind chills between 0 and -5 early on Presidents’ Day.

A huge dome of Canadian high pressure will promote a frigid flow of air east of the Rockies through the week. High temperatures next week will only reach the low to mid-20s, with morning lows around 10 degrees.

Skies early in the week will be partly sunny. Afternoon temperatures will struggle to rise much above 20 degrees.

A southern disturbance will graze the region Wednesday with a period of light snow. A few inches could accumulate through the day, followed by a reinforcing surge of cold air through the remainder of the workweek.
