FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Tuesday morning!
It’s another cool & quiet start to the day. However, temperatures will quickly ramp up to some warmer than normal numbers by the end of today. This pattern will last for a little longer, bringing in potentially the newest warmest day of the year.
Temperatures will climb into the mid 80s by the late afternoon. Columbus is expected to reach 86 degrees, the first time the thermometer has reached that number since October of last year. It could turn into the warmest day of the year, up until tomorrow.
Wildfire smoke is still hanging tight in the Midwest. For now, it is steadier in the upper levels of the atmosphere. But, as the day goes on, we’ll see some pockets of denser smoke sit back at the surface. That could potentially cause some air quality issues for people who are more sensitive to lower quality.
The warming trend peaks for Wednesday. We’re starting off a few degrees shy of 70 and climbing to the upper 80s by the end of the day. Some areas will likely touch 90 degrees. With that kind of a warmup, Wednesday will likely turn into the new warmest day of the year.
The rest of the week will deal with scattered showers & thunderstorms after our next system rolls in. Rain chances taper into Saturday as temperatures cool to the upper 70s for the weekend. After a very small break from the rain on Sunday, storms and the 80s return for next Monday.
