COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — There’s much to look forward to in this season of Ohio State football, including new players, coaches and even technology.

Helmet communication is part of the new technology being introduced to college football. With this being its first year, there’s potential for complications. Since the feed could go down at any time, the Buckeyes will be ready for all scenarios.

Also on the sideline and in the coaches box, teams will be able to use iPads to instantly review game video. That’s been happening in high school football for years, and the NFL allows teams to use similar technology just to look at photos.

The Buckeyes used the iPads the past two Saturdays in their scrimmages. But in the middle of a real game, it will allow teams to quickly make adjustments after each possession.

“I think you’re going to see, you know, a little bit more in-game adjustments than maybe previously, but, you know, other than that, I mean, football’s still football, that’s not changing,” Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day said.

The Buckeyes season debut is against Akron at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
