COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — At the expense of its fiercest rival, No. 1 Ohio State lifted the Big Ten tournament trophy in men’s soccer on Sunday, defeating Michigan, 1-0, at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The game’s lone goal was scored in the 73rd minute when Parker Grinstead found the back of the net off an Ohio State corner kick. It marked Grinstead’s sixth goal this season and third of the tournament.

Goalie Max Trejo earned his fifth shutout of the year and improved his season record to 8-0-1.

The Buckeyes earned its fourth Big Ten tournament championship in front of a record crowd of 8,938 fans, surpassing the previous best home crowd of 7,255 set in 2011.

OSU now looks ahead to its second NCAA tournament appearance in three years and will learn its first opponent on Monday when the bracket is revealed.
