COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Donatos will open its first fully-automated pizza restaurant later this month at John Glenn Columbus International Airport.

The Columbus-based pizza shop partnered with Appetronix and Agape Automation for the robot-operated facility.

“We’re not just adding tech to a restaurant; we’re jumping in with a fully autonomous restaurant,” Donatos Pizza President and CEO Kevin King said in a statement. “But, most importantly, we’re going to continue to serve great tasting abundantly topped pizzas and provide a top-notch customer experience that Donatos has always been known for.”

The new restaurant is set to open June 9 and will be located pre-security by Concourse B. The location will be operated by HMS Host, which is a foodservice company that operates restaurants at airports and travel centers.

Columbus Regional Airport Authority President and CEO Joseph Nardone called the new location “an exciting addition” to the airport that should enhance the passenger experience.

The location will operate 24/7 with “state-of-the-art robotics and data science technology.”
