COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Downtown grocery store will soon receive refreshed branding after being transferred to new ownership.
The Hills Market at 95 N. Grant Ave. will be known as “Charmy’s Market” beginning on March 1. The name change will come as Sherry and Rezi Bayegan, who have led the market’s kitchen and catering services named “Charmy’s Persian Taste” since 2019, are taking over the entire building’s management.
The Bayegan couple operated their own restaurant in Tehran, Iran, before immigrating to escape threats of prosecution, they said in a release. The pair touts Charmy’s as “an LGBTQ, minority, and women-owned business.”
“We are committed to making Charmy’s Market a go-to destination for residents, visitors, and those working in the area,” said Sherry. “We look to expand the offerings of the market, with continued high-quality kitchen and catering options, locally sourced meats, Amish produce, an increased variety of groceries, including international selections, and culinary events for customers of all ages.”
The Hills Downtown storefront opened in 2013 and had marked an expansion for the brand. The rebranding and ownership transfer dwindles The Hills back to one Columbus-area location, the brand’s original market at 7860 Olentangy River Road in Worthington.
“We have enjoyed nearly 12 years of operating The Hills Market Downtown and are extremely thankful to our staff and to our amazing customers,” said Kyle Baker, the location’s managing partner. “We are excited to offer the enterprising Charmy’s team this opportunity and know the future is bright and that this downtown store will continue to serve as a vibrant neighborhood amenity.”
The Downtown market is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. The Hills gift cards will continue to be accepted at both locations until Feb. 28, after which they will only be valid at the Worthington storefront.
