COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus city officials have taken action Tuesday by shutting down a North Linden property that was the site of a homicide in January.
A house on the 1200 block of East Hudson Street has been boarded up due to numerous calls about crime near the property, and most recently the fatal shooting of a man on Jan. 5. A previous report on that shooting can be found in the player above.
The property was under multiple court orders that limited access, beginning with a temporary restraining order that was issued in 2020 by the office of the Columbus city attorney.
A second court order was issued in 2022 for contempt based off reports of drug activity and prostitution at the property. Despite that court order, Columbus police received reports of gunfire, fights, theft, and suspicious activity at the premises over the past two years, per Columbus city attorney Zach Klein.
The house will be boarded up for the next year with police having permission to remove or arrest anyone found on the premises without court permission.
