COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead, another was critically injured after a shooting in northeast Columbus occurred Saturday morning.

According to Columbus police, a man was fatally shot near the intersection of Walford Street and Fitzroy Drive, just south of Morse Road in the Northern Lights neighborhood. Police named Devon Ford, 26, as the suspect in the shooting Saturday afternoon and said they have filed a warrant for his arrest.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 8:21 a.m. and one victim was pronounced dead at the scene eight minutes later. The other male victim was hospitalized in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

Police issued a ‘shelter in place’ alert as a precaution, but it was lifted a short time later. CPD Homicide Unit is now investigating the incident, but do not yet know what led to the shooting.
