COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — NBC4 will continue to be the exclusive home of Olympic Games coverage through the next decade.

The IOC said Thursday it signed its long-time United States broadcast partner, NBC Universal, to a $3 billion renewed deal for the 2034 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and the 2036 Summer Games, with the host yet to be decided but interest has been shown from India, Qatar, Turkey, Hungary, and Indonesia.

NBC4 has broadcast every Summer Olympics since 1988 and every Winter Games since 2002 in Salt Lake City — all the games since the 2000 Sydney Olympics. A previous renewal in 2011 secured each games from 2014 through 2020 for $4.38 billion. A 2014 deal extended the partnership through 2032.

NBC was widely seen to have a good and profitable 2024 Paris Olympics, with roving correspondent Snoop Dogg proving to be a huge hit with audiences at home and fans in the city. The broadcaster also saw massive success with the Peacock-exclusive show “Gold Zone”, which showed whip-around coverage for each day of the Paris Games.

The broadcaster said its coverage from Paris reached 67 million total viewers on average daily across all platforms.

NBC4’s resumption of Olympics coverage comes next year with 2026 Milan winter Olympics. It will also be the home of the 2028 Los Angeles summer games, 2030 winter games in the French Alps, and 2032 summer Olympics in Brisbane, Australia.
