COLUMBUS (WCMH) — For the fourth year in a row, the Ohio State women are in the Big Dance.

The Ohio State women’s basketball team will be a #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Big Ten Champions will play George Washington in the Spokane regional.

The Buckeyes open tournament play on Saturday, March 17 at 1:30pm at St. John Arena. That game will follow a game between LSU and Central Michigan, with the winners of both games meeting Monday evening.

The Buckeyes are making their 25th NCAA Tournament appearance and have an all-time record of 28-24. OSU has made 11 Sweet 16 appearances, which includes each of the last two seasons. That marked the first back-to-back appearances since the run of five-straight appearances from 1985-89. The Buckeyes have advanced to the Elite Eight three times with its best run being a runner-up finish in 1993.

This will be the 12th time that the Buckeyes will host NCAA Tournament opening round games at St. John Arena. Ohio State 13-2 when hosting NCAA Tournament games and has won six-straight games. The last two were wins over Buffalo and West Virginia in the first two rounds of the 2016 tournament.

Head coach Kevin McGuff is making his fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance with the Buckeyes and his 10th appearance overall as a head coach. He guided Xavier to the tournament six times from 2003-11 with a run to the Elite Eight in 2010.
