CLEVELAND, Ohio (WCMH) – It went the distance at Rocket Arena in Cleveland against the Toledo Rockets as the Ohio Bobcats lost in overtime 90-85 in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals. It was a game that almost did not go to overtime.

The Bobcats had a 76-75 lead with four seconds to go. Toledo had to go the length of the court in four seconds and amongst the chaos, Ohio’s Shereef Mitchell fouled Toledo’s Sonny Wilson, sending him to the free throw line for two shots. Wilson made the first but missed the second, forcing the game into overtime.

Toledo outscored Ohio 14-9 in overtime to advance to the semifinals. Jackson Paveletzke led the Bobcats with 28 points on 9-16 shooting.

This is a second loss Ohio has had to the Rockets inside a week. Ohio will enter Selection Sunday with a 16-16 record so it’s not clear yet if they will play in a postseason tournament. Toledo will face the top-seed Akron in the MAC semifinals on Friday afternoon.

The MAC championship game will be played on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with the winner booking an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. This year’s March Madness bracket will be announced at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
