COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Just a few days before facing off on Saturday at Lower.com Field, the Columbus Crew and San Jose Earthquakes have agreed on a trade.
The Black & Gold are sending defender DeJuan Jones to the Quakes in exchange for $425,000 in general allocation money and a 2025 international roster slot. The GAM will be dealt in two stages with $175,000 coming in for this season and the other $250,000 coming in 2026.
Columbus acquired another $250,000 in GAM on Tuesday in a separate trade with the Houston Dynamo for a 2025 international roster slot.
Jones, 27, played in 15 MLS regular season matches with the Crew after being acquired in a trade with the New England Revolution in July. He started in seven of those matches for head coach Wilfried Nancy’s side and won the Leagues Cup last summer.
The Crew enter Saturday’s match against San Jose after falling to Inter Miami 1-0 last Saturday in Cleveland, marking the team’s first loss in MLS play this season. Columbus sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings while the Earthquakes, who are in 10th in the West table, enter on a two-match winless run.
